We arrived in Switzerland dead tired, but that didn't mean that we were going to stop. It was 11:30 pm at home, time for bed. But here is was 7:30 am, so touring we did go!

Our first stop in Switzerland was at the Swiss temple. What a magnificent site! It reminded me of
Vincenzo di Francesca story...

We took a cogwheel train up to the
Kleine Scheidegg. What a breathtaking sight of so many peaks in the Alps.

I believe that is the
Eiger (mountain).

A view of the Alps from the street in
Grindelwald, Switzerland.

This photo does not do justice to the view of the
mountian, but this is the view we had from our room in
Grindelwald.
HAHaHAA, "go through the bar and to the left. That is where we are having Sacrament Meeting." It was quite a rustic scene that reminded me of what early church meetings were probably like.

The scenery here in Switzerland is breathtaking! Amazing!

Daddy with the Cuckoo clocks...maybe he feels like he fits in.

A typical Swiss style home. So pretty and tidy.

This is the view from our room in
Lucerne. We could see the cathedral, across the Lake of
Lucerne and the original entrance to the underground subway. It was a spectacular view.

The famous bridge in
Lucerne.

The Lion, carved as a Memorial for some French soldiers who were killed as they were protecting royalty.

St.
Leodegar Cathedral in
Lucerne.

One of the towers in the city wall. Only some of the wall is still standing, but they built these towers along the wall to protect their city from invasion.

This was a pretty shot that was taken as we walked toward the wall of the city.

Taken from the wall of
Lucerne. This was such a beautiful city, definitely one of my favorites!

A statue of a solider on top of a turret on a tower.

A view of a small portion of city surrounding the Lake
Lucerne.

A view of
Neuschwanstein Castle, dubbed 'The Cinderella castle'

The front side of
Neuschwanstien Castle, King Ludwig II final home.

This is the royal families residence in Munich, Germany.

Here we are outside of the Glockenspiel at
Marianplatz, the center of Munich. It is difficult to see, but the tower above us contains two
Glockenspeil (things that go around in a circle) that perform three times a day (rather than hourly.) Sort of like a giant Cuckoo clock.

A view of Munich, from the tower of the Glockenspiel.

A little church that Daddy remembers from his mission. He served here in Munich! It was fun for him to see so many things he remembered.

Daddy and his
companions would set up street displays right here. These would provide opportunities to share the Gospel with the people in Munich. This tunnel was the head of the street that lead to
Marianplatz, the center of town.

Here we are in some beautiful gardens in
Salzburg, where the royal Austrian families would reside. This is also where many
scenes from 'The Sound of Music' were filmed.

This is the apartment building where Mozart was born. He lived in the apartment on the 2
nd & 3rd floors on the left.
Salzburg has had the same families living in it for generations. Here we are inside a graveyard where many of their ancestors have been laid to rest.

The
cemetery was placed right below the mountain/wall that ran below the castle
fortifications. That building at the top was
actually built in the rock mountain face.

Here is a picture outside of the
Mauthausen Concentration Camp, the last camp to be liberated in 1945. It was horrible to see how cruel the SS were to all of these innocent victims. This was a very sobering visit.

Here is a picture of St.
Stephans Cathedral in Vienna Austria.
And now I'm caught up...
More photos of Vienna to come soon.

What beautiful pictures!!! That is just awesome that you two are taking a vacation together! And, how nice that you have been able to see where Taylor served his mission. Germany seems like a lot cooler place to see than Arkansas (that's where Adam went)... although, if we do go, at least he speaks the language.
I am SO jealous, but it is a well deserved vacation. I hope you have/had a wonderful time.
how awesome! can't wait to see more photos!
Wow, what a great trip. I've heard of a lot of these places before, but it's so cool you get to actually see them.
Sounds like you are having fun! You are more adventurous than I am - Steve always wants to go to a concentration camp, but I wont go.
Wow, it's all so gorgeous it's almost as if I don't believe those are pictures from a "real person's" camera. So glad you got to get away. Were you blogging from Europe?
BTW good job touring the first day. That first day overseas makes me a totall head-spinning waste of flesh. I don't know that I'd even see anything.
Wow Sara, I'm so glad you got to take that trip. I bet it was amazing. Someday maybe Dallas and I will go there. You deserved that break!
Sheryl
