Knock Out!

The cold that just keeps on taking, or giving, depending on whose side your on.

Well I'm on my side, of course, and this cold has knocked me off my feet. If I didn't feel like I'd been sick the majority of the past month, maybe I wouldn't feel so annoyed. However, after a delightful root canal on Friday (yeah right), followed by "it hurts to breath" Saturday, we pulled out ALL of the big guns for Sunday.

  • Taylor picked up my Z-pack (ANTIBIOTIC) from Walgreens. (No, it could not wait until Monday.)
  • Dad came up and he and Taylor gave me a Priesthood blessing.
  • Taylor graciously assumed the role of Mother, sacrificing his much needed homework time.
  • I stayed in bed with my humidifier, nebulizer, box of Kleenex, glass of water, remotes and Pride and Prejudice, the long one with Colin Firth. (Thank you Neisha!)

Kudos to Taylor, who brilliantly gave "us" a TV for our bedroom for Valentines. To the inventor of the DVR concept, you are awesome! I'd also like to thank Jane Austen and Charles Dickens, who I will always consider fondly as gentle decongestants. Bravo! I am on the mend!

4 & Don't you forget it!

Happy Birthday (last week) Michael!

You can't go wrong with a bounce castle for the basement! He was SO excited and all of the boys wore themselves out playing that night!

When he rides his new green razor scooter, Christian calls him "Herb" which is Christian speak for "Ferb." They both LOVE the cartoon Phineas and Ferb on the Disney channel. Now Christian is Phineas (I think he should be Ferb), Michael is Ferb, Ethan is Candace (ha ha ha ha ha) and Luke is Perry, the Platypus.

My darling little Michael!
(But don't call him that to his face because he will retort angrily, "I'm not darling, little Michael. I'm just big Michael!" Followed by an annoyed sigh. Hopefully he'll out grow this disagreeable stage before too long.)

There is hope! (My musings)

Sometimes it seems that this winter will never end, and then you catch a glimpse of something extraordinary that just fills your soul with hope. It is the same with the winters in my life. Last week I wanted to die because of a migrating cold that started in my eyes (of all places) and settled in my sinuses and chest. Today I'm still coughing and somehow I re-contaminated my eyes (ARGH!) again, so I'm in for another week of glasses that don't fit properly and really bother me, but it could be worse...so much worse! I am truly grateful for a body that can fight infection, and for prayer that helps me endure the struggles, and for Luke who is having a blast dropping the bottle every time I turn my head, then laughing/crying (he's tired) until I pick it back up. What a dear child. Oh yes, I'm also extremely grateful for Mucinex D, it's a lifesaver!

Christian and Michael just came in from playing outside (YIPPEE)! They couldn't wait to tell me all about 'worm' and its new home, a bucket of dirt, that they made. "It's for you Mom," said Michael as he wraps his arms around me and rests his chin on my shoulder, "for your birthday." Aren't my boys thoughtful! (I'm not telling them that my birthday is months away.)

It was a year ago that I moved in with my Mom, because of my pregnancy complications. Today Luke is almost eleven months and he's such a joy to have in our home. Life is full of blessings, and today I can not stop counting them!
